Football Coaching Clinic Hai Phong, Monday, March 16th, 2009.
 
     
 

Special Olympics Vietnam conducted a football coaching training in Hai Phong on March 16, 2009 for special educators. Hai Phong is a small province and about 110 Km east of Hanoi capital city. There are two schools for handicapped children and each school has about 40 to 50 intellectual disabilities children.

  Introduction to Special Olympics – Classroom session  
     
 
The one day course included history of SOI and SO Vietnam, difference between Paralympics and Special Olympics, working with special needs children, rules on five-a-side soccer, Individual Skill competition, team competition and divisioning.

There were officially five participants at this training, two from each school, and a community sport organizer and their names were - Bui T. Thuy, Lam Q. Uy, Hung V. Pham, Nguyen H. Loi and Nguyen X. Loi

In addition, there were ten athletes from both schools who participated and practiced with all coaches. Mr. Qui, Vice Director of Sports Department came in support and he along with Mr. Simon were interviewed by HTV (Hai phong Television), which covered the event.

Special Olympics Vietnam also went through the next steps, provided a sample training schedule as well as soccer balls, cones, whistles, and stopwatches for coaches in Hai Phong and will be returning to support their first inter-school competition in 4 months.
