SON (Special Olympics Nippon) has started a new fund raising campaign called Yell* -Bokin* since Friday, February 05, 2010. The purpose is to send hearty yells out to each of 7,434 athletes currently participating in SON.
● Yell-Bokin
This is to cheer and support athletes participating in Special Olympics Nippon. By this new style of fund raising with the idea that “fund” corresponds to “yell which means support”, you will receive a hand-made misanga (miçanga) as a proof of your support after you donate. The hand-made misangas by volunteers will connect people.
● Potential of “Yell-Bokin misangas”.
At the 2009 Special Olympics World Winter Games in Boise, Idaho, thanks to a small movement started by one woman, many hand knitted mufflers in blue and white which are the SO Game colors were delivered to the venue from all over the world. Those lots of mufflers from people wanting to support the Games or looking for ways to help it were presented to all of the participants as a warm gift.
Yell-Bokin was initiated by the thought that we wanted to cherish such warm “bonds”.
