In February, 128 athletes representing nine (9) Special Olympics sub-chapters, participated in the unified Bocce competitions in the double and team events. Ninety nine volunteers assisted the athletes during the 2 day event held on February 24-25, 2010 at the Amoranto Sports Stadium in Quezon City.
Last March 11-12, 2010, 92 athletes from (7) seven sub-chapters representing the 3 major island regions of Luzon, Visayas, and Mindanao. Events covered the 100, 200, 400 meter relay track events as well as the standing long jump and the shot put competitions. 45 Volunteers served as officials’, timers and guides for the participants during the 2day athletic competitions held on March 11-12 at the PhilSports Arena in Pasig City, Metro Manila.
Special Olympics Philippines also held a press conference to further expand our “Be a fan” campaign. To lead the campaign against the discrimination on persons with special needs by corporations and individuals, Special Olympics Philippines is presently partnering with the media (newsprint, T.V. and the internet) to spread the vision of courage in the country.

This April, Special Olympics Philippines will be holding a National Football Competition with ten soccer teams in Baguio City. Come August, S.O Philippines will conduct the National Bowling Competitions with 14 sub-chapters or a total of 112 special athletes participating in the singles and unified doubles and team events. |
