Mr. Baraki was born in Khalai Ahmad Khan Kabul Province in 1957. He started his schooling at the age of 7, at the same time he joined a wrestling club in Khalai Ahmad Khan. He was also a member of football club in his school. He has graduated his high school in 1976 and joined Physical education institute of Kabul. He joined Physical education institute’s Wrestling team as well as Floor hockey club in the institute. After his graduation Mr. Baraki was selected as a national team member of Afghanistan Hockey Team. He has participated in several National and international events. In the year 1977 he participated in Nehru Cup at India.
Prime Minister of New Zealand Mr. John Key launches Special Olympics Athlete Leadership Programme
(Wellington) – On 29 March 2010, the New Zealand Prime Minister the Honourable John Key officially launched Special Olympics New Zealand’s nation-wide Athlete Leadership Programme and the ten athletes from throughout New Zealand who make up the inaugural class of Global Messengers were introduced at an event at the New Zealand Parliament.

GUEST OF HONOUR, Her Royal Highness Princess Fadzilah Lubabul Bulqiah, graced the Balapan Track and Field in Berakas for the opening ceremony of the Special Olympics Brunei Darussalam (SOBD) 5th National Games
Held over three days, the games featured 200 special athletes compete in five games, track and field, Bocce, football, bowling and Young Athletes (Aged 8 and below).
Oceania Football Confederation signs deal with Special Olympics
The signing ceremony took place in the presence of Ministers of Sport from 11 Pacific Island nations who were hosted by OFC at the TelstraClear Pacific Centre in Manukau during the inaugural Pacific Youth and Sports Conference 2010.

Special Olympics Thailand conducts Athlete Leadership Training
Special Olympics Thailand trained 36 athletes from all over Thailand to become Athlete Leaders. This was the first of its kind training session where Athletes were trained to become volunteer leaders. These athletes have already undergone Speech & Governance training under previous Athlete Leadership Programs.
Special Olympics Bharat gathers more than 625,000 signatures supporting the ban of the word “Retard”
The Signature Campaign is SO Bharat’s endeavor to delete the r-word or its equivalent in any Indian language while addressing intellectually disabled persons. Special Olympics Bharat hopes to bring dignity and respect to this amazing community and also sensitize the mainstream community to their needs while promoting Special Olympics and our amazing athletes.
Special Olympics Philippines Organized National Competitions for Bocce and Athletics.
In February, 128 athletes representing nine (9) Special Olympics sub-chapters, participated in the unified Bocce competitions in the double and team events. Ninety nine volunteers assisted the athletes during the 2 day event held on February 24-25, 2010 at the Amoranto Sports Stadium in Quezon City.
Last March 11-12, 2010, 92 athletes from (7) seven sub-chapters representing the 3 major island regions of Luzon, Visayas, and Mindanao. Events covered the 100, 200, 400 meter relay track events as well as the standing long jump and the shot put competitions.
Special Olympics Bharat organizes National Championship for Athletics
Over 700 athletes from 23 states participated in Special Olympics Bharat National Championship for athletics in month of January 2010 in Anantapur, Andhra Pradesh. The athletes participated in 26 Track & Field events during the seven day programs.
This championship was organized by Andhra Pradesh Chapter and showcased best teamwork and support received from the Rural Development Trust, District Collecto rate, Department of Disabled Welfare, Municipal Corporation, Anantapur.
Special Olympics Nippon launches new fundraising campaign
SON (Special Olympics Nippon) has started a new fund raising campaign called Yell -Bokin since Friday, February 05, 2010. The purpose is to send hearty yells out to each of 7,434 athletes currently participating in SON.
