The ninth Special Olympics World winter games, our movement’s largest global sporting event provided competition opportunity to nearly 2500 athletes from more than 100 countries.
147 athletes from six countries represented the Asia Pacific region at World Winter Games and competed in seven different winter sports i.e. Alpine Skiing, Cross-Country Skiing, Figure Skating, Floor Hockey, Snowboarding, Snowshoeing, and Speed Skating.

India sent their first women floor hockey team at the games and they came back with a silver medal.

There were athletes from Malaysia & Indonesia who experienced snow and cold weather for the first time yet it could not dampen their spirits. Their pride and determination won them medals as well as accolades from the Fans. See below for exciting photos from the Special Olympics World Winter Games.
